Coquina

Coquina continues my exploration of variation in generative art. The organic shapes and their many arrangements suggest the human design behind these digital constructions. 387 iterations were minted on Art Blocks between November 11th and December 30th, 2021.

Coquina #0

Experimenting with flow fields to generate different shapes led me to the ones used in Coquina. The name comes from the way they assemble and intersect, reminiscent of a stone made of compressed shells. The color palettes build upon this theme, drawn from the bright colors of the islands I visited with my family as a child.

Occasionally the nature of the flow field used to generate the shapes is tweaked to create livelier forms or more structured arrangements.
